Problem
NASA needed a compelling, educational experience to engage the next generation in space exploration, centered around the story of Callie Rodriguez, the first woman and person of color on the Moon.
Opportunity
Working with Bully! Entertainment, I led UX design for a multi-platform experience—including a native app, WebAR, and microsite—that integrated interactive storytelling, educational content, and immersive environments to broaden reach and deepen engagement.
Process
I designed intuitive UI/UX for the native iOS app, structured content around the graphic novel, developed onboarding with RT as an in-app guide, and created AR interactions like placing NASA tech in users' spaces. I also led UX for immersive environments, wireframed WebAR interactions, and crafted the microsite’s user flow—ensuring cohesion across platforms.
Result
The project saw over 467M interactions, won Webby and People's Choice Awards, and successfully translated NASA's mission into an engaging, accessible experience. Reflecting back, I learned to better prioritize features and maintain UX clarity without over-designing.
